We left from the Christ the King parking lot at about 9:00am on Saturday, November 18, 1995. Raven Rock State Park is about a half-hour drive from there. When we arrived in the park, *missing image* Scoutmaster Tom Stalker discussed our hiking plans with some of the scouts.

Mr. Stalker worked with Scout David Wormald who needed the compass requirements for second class. *missing image* Now is this where we are? Really .... ?

After arriving at the campsite *missing image* our first task was to organize the campsite and put up our tents.

After lunch, *missing image* we hiked up to see Raven Rock, the namesake for the park.

After the two mile hike, we descended to the base of the rock cliff, *missing image* which is just beside the Cape Fear River. The scouts wasted no time and immediately started exploring.

Several scouts and Assistant Scoutmaster Tom Link continued on to the *missing image* overlook, which is located about a mile from Raven's Rock itself. The view from here was spectacular, with the natural fall beauty of North Carolina in full color.

Sunday morning, we wasted no time breaking down the campsite and starting the hike back to the parking lot. *missing image* In this photo, we are ascending the last hill on the hike. For some scouts, this was their first hike with equipment, so this last hill was a challenge. Later, we joined Explorer Post 208, who had intended to camp with us but never found the park.
