Camp Durant

We camped at Camp Durant June 30, 1996 through July 6, 1996.

One of the most popular merit badges at summer camp is swimming. One of the requirements for this badge is to enter the water with your clothing on, *missing image* take off your pants, and swim for 50 yards using inflated clothing for support. Here we see first year scout *missing image* Brett Roach making the swim.

The first few days were near 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Usually we dressed quite casual, seen here as acting Scoutmaster Mark Badders conducts an impromptu meeting *missing image* with (from left to right) Justin McCurry, Casey Roche, Adam Badders, Cameron Johnson, and Allen Thomas.

Our Pioneering Project for the week was a lashing to make our troop number *missing image* 208, done by Mark Lavin, Paul Zarick and others.

It was tough to stand in a straight line *missing image* when it was as hot as it was that week.

Scout Joey Furmick made friends with a lizard *missing image* that accompanied him for at least a day.

The week culminated in a troop competition. First the troop constructed a wooden tomahawk. Assistant Scoutmasters Bill Plaia and Tom Link provided the one used by Troop 208. This was used as the token in a relay race. First to first aid, *missing image* where Robert Strader bandaged Ben Johnson.

Later, Jason Clarke *missing image* displays his knot-tying talents.

And the whole troop runs alongside Cameron Johnson *missing image* as he crosses the finish line.
