Fathers-Invited Campout at Camp Campbell

The largest camping group from Troop 208 participated in the Fathers-Invited Campout at Camp Campbell, September 18, 19 and 20, 1998.

We arrived after dark on Friday the 18. The start of the trip was not encouraging, since it rained part of the way. But there was no rain in camp, and we pitched our tents on a dry site.

First thing in the morning, the dads started to help. Dads Put up TarpMr. Johnson, Mr Carlin, and two other dads are putting up a tarp.

It did not take long before the troop started some serious advancement activities.

After lunch, the day brightened up and the troop got down to some serious water activities. Mr Couture is taking photos of the swimming area.Troop 208 Swimming Area

Other Scouts, assisted by Explorer Post 208, took part oin canoeing and kayaking activities.

Assistant Scoutmaster John Harrison tested the limits of his four wheel drive. The scouts helped him out.

String burning competitonAfter dark, the troop held a string burning competition. Here you can see the winning team of Sheldon, Cyrus, and John using a strategy of leaves to make a fire.

Later, with the help of the wood gathered by Mr. Harrison, the troop held a campfire by Kerr Lake that undoubtedly could be seen for miles.campfire
