Troop 208 camped at Camp Campbell September 17-19, 1999, right after
hurricane Floyd left the area. It looked like we might not go, but the
brunt of the storm passed well to the east of Kerr Lake where we camped.
Troop
208 scouts greet the sunrise. Sunrise on Saturday was at 6:45 am. Just
about everyone was up and about by then.
Everyone had breakfast and then we worked on advancements.

Alex Bond displays his fire-building skills.
Alex Bond, Ben Miller, George Sawyer
and
Brent Meyers, trash bags in hand, work on the Troop 208 "BIG SWEEP"
of the Kerr Lake area.
Meanwhile, the older scouts and adults worked on creating a campfire
area.
They formed a campfire ring from rocks, and seats from downed trees. Jim
Johnson, Aditya Devalapalli, Neil Link and Robin Whitcher are pictured
here.
In the afternoon, it was time for
watersports!
Brent Meyers is in the foreground, while the rest of Troop 208 and Explorer
Post 208 are paddling in the background.
Meanwhile, six scouts and Mr. Williams swam a mile
across
the lake. Here in the photo are Adam Johnson, Chris Couture, J.D. Dove,
Bryan Seigler, Mr. Williams, Andrew Dunn and Josh Dickinson. In the background
is the point that this group swam to and back!
In
the inter-patrol competition, Chris Couture tries to start a fire with
a mere canful of fuel. The Chargers-Vipers won this event (not Chris' patrol).
Before we depart for home Sunday, we have a church service
at the campfire ring built the day before. Mr Whitcher addresses the Troop
and Cub Scout Pack 208 who was also there.
