TROOP 208 CARY NORTH CAROLINA
EXPEDITION TO UK JUNE 4 - JUNE 15, 2000

Health and Safety Information

All scouts attending this trip have on file an official BSA medical form {Level 1, 2, or 3). We will carry the official BSA medical form with us on the trip. This form gives permission to have your son treated if necessary on any Boy Scout outing.

If your son requires medical attention we will take your son to a medical facility (hospital) in England to be treated. We will also call you to let you know that we are having your son treated. Please note that in the very unlikely event we need to have someone treated the hospital facilities in the United Kingdom are excellent and similar to those facilities in the United States. Also, there is generally no charge to visiting Americans requiring emergency medical assistance in the United Kingdom, as the British use a National Health System run by the government.

If your son has any medications that they need to take (either Prescription or Non- Prescription) you must let Jim Johnson know in writing what the medication is, how often they need to take their medication, and give us permission to hold the medication and provide assistance if required to take their medication. Under BSA policy we cannot give ANY medication to your son without your permission. Please make sure that you send us permission and a list of any medications they may require. This information will be kept in strictest confidence by Jim Johnson. If you have any questions regarding medication use please contact Jim Johnson (481-1275).

Passports and Tickets

Once your scout has passed through immigration and customs in the United Kingdom they generally will not need to carry their passport's with them. We will collect and hold passport's if a scout does not want to worry about this valuable document after entering the country. In addition, all airline tickets will be held by Mr. Johnson to ensure that they do not get lost. Each scout will however will be responsible for managing their own London Underground ticket. This is an unlimited pas to use the tube, buses  and rail for 4 days in and around London. If they loose the ticket it will cost them about $35 to replace it.
